Правило, согласно которому оплата труда работника зависит от того, какое место в «соревновании» он завоевал. Такая система оплаты характерна для сферы профессионального спорта, однако широко применяется также при расчете заработной платы менеджеров высшего звена. Разница в зарплате директора компании (победителя «соревнования») и нижестоящих чиновников служит побудительным мотивом к усердной работе в стремлении занять более высокий пост.
